Painting Nature

Time to seize the season!  Fall is here and there are so many ways to embrace it, whether you’re trekking to an apple orchard or pumpkin patch, or roasting pumpkin seeds and making homemade caramel apples.

It’s also the perfect season for arts + crafts.  Enjoy a Fall day by taking a walk with your kids (of all ages) and collecting elements of nature…colorful leaves, nuts, pinecones, milk-pods…and then creating some one-of-a-kind decorations with paint and a little imagination.

I found this fun idea with finger paints for little ones…

The last time my girls and I got the urge to paint, we opted to paint pinecones + pods in pretty pastels.  We added a little sparkle with a few sprinkles of shimmer (because glitter makes everything better).

Here are the results…

I took these photos of our creations on the Leaf Rubbing Collage I made earlier this month…see the link here.

These beauties work great as table favors too, like the placecard DIY I found here…

Making hand-crafted placecards is an excellent way to get your little ones involved in welcoming your friends + family.  Your guests will love the personal touch.

Your painted creations can also find a permanent home as a paper weight or artful prop on your Smartstuff desk…

I hope you’re enjoying the season and making some special family memories together.

Happy Autumn to you + yours.
