Fall Coloring

September always marks the entree into Fall and all that is warm and cozy.  For me, Fall brings specific rituals to mind…Going to football games, making homemade soups, collecting colorful leaves, and curling up under warm blankets on the back porch.  And though the leaves have only just begun to turn the faintest hints of orange and red, I’m already thinking of the fun to be had in nature this Fall.

For families, Fall is full of opportunities for art + adventure…  Going on nature hikes, creating Fall crafts aplenty, and of course, piling high the leaves and jumping in… over and over again.

One of my favorite Fall arts + crafts projects is Leaf Rubbing Collages.  All you need are a few leaves, paper + good, old-fashioned crayolas to create the magic.  I found this great inspiration online…

…and then, had some fun doing a Leaf Collage of my own (even grown-up kids love to color with crayons!)…

I took photos of my finished collage and had some fun editing the image on camera+…

….I think this mod, abstract version is very cool, even frame-able.! What do you think?

It would look perfect in this Smartstuff girl’s room…

So, celebrate the Fall with your own coloring projects and nature adventures!
